Mark A. Koenig

Mark A. Koenig is counsel in the Real Estate M&A group, where he focuses on strategic transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, restructurings, multi-asset purchase and sale, master leasing and financing transactions in the REIT, private equity, real estate and gaming industries.  Mr. Koenig also advises on strategy, cross-border transactions and large-scale development projects, and has significant experience in the structuring, formation, financing and investment activity of private equity real estate opportunity funds, and in a broad spectrum of corporate real estate activity.  Among other major transactions, he has been involved in a series of recent large public REIT mergers and divestitures in the healthcare and industrial sectors, the redevelopment of the World Trade Center and Little Island in Manhattan, the master leases of Penn National Gaming and Pinnacle Entertainment and in the structuring of a series of private equity funds and co-investment JVs for major sponsors and investors in the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Mr. Koenig received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in rabbinic and talmudic studies from Beth Medrash Govoha in October 1992 and September 1994, respectively. He completed a J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 2000, where he graduated, magna cum laude, and was a member of the Order of the Coif.

Mr. Koenig is Vice Chair of the American Bar Association’s International Law Section’s Cross-Border Real Estate Committee and a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
